With an ample supply of good rich compost is the gardeners dream.
It has many uses, and all these applications will result in more pleasing plants. However, composting can be time work long and hard. I value my time a sensitive, spend so many hours turning compost piles does not qualify as a useful exercise, at least in my book. However, I believe that the compost, but I know that my condition.
I built two composting bins. Each bin is five feet wide, five feet deep and fourMeters. I built the tank with the reduction from 4 "4" placed on land to the curves, and then nailed 2 by 4 and 1 by 4's, alternating sides.
I have 2 "space between the boards for air circulation. The 2 by 4 are rigid enough to keep the sides from bowing, and between a 2 by 4 I used 1 of 4 save some 'money. The tanks are only 3 sides, I left the front of the open shelves, and are full and fast. The photos are emptied from my composter to this page:http://www.freeplants.com \ composting.htm
I started by only one of the boxes. I have grass, dry leaves, cut grass and shrubs in the garbage. Do not try to put more than 6 "of each material on a plane. Do not you want 24" of grass clippings in the trash and you should alternate layers of green material and brown. If necessary, keep a few bags of dry leaves around so you can alternate layers of brown waste and green.
When we root cuttings we use coarse sand inApartments, so when it's time for the rooted cuttings from flats, sand the old clutch went on the compost heap. In our little backyard nursery we also have some plants in containers that do not survive. Instead of pulling out dead plants and weeds from the container, and then the pile of dirt dumped on the floor again, simply dump the whole container in the compost. This adds more brown material to the mix, and is much easier than the separation between the ground and weeds.
Once theBin is full, the rules of composting say that the material in the trash once every few weeks. There is no way that I have time to do it, so this is what I do. The pack material in the trash as I can, before you start filling the second bin. I urge the material as high as I can, and leave it to the front of the box. Then I have all the fresh material with mulch or soil brown material I can find.
Then, when out in the garden, I workeda small sprinkler on top of the pile and turn it very low, so a bit 'of water running onto the material. Since I have a good water well, this will cost me nothing, so I left running for at least two hours as often as I can. This keeps the material wet, moisture and heat the pile, which makes the composting action take place.
Once I'm the first one is quite full, beginning with the second bin. Since the material in the first bin starts to breakit will settle and the bin is more crowded, so I just keep shoveling the material that I have accumulated in front of the tray until the top of the stack, until all material is in the trash, or stacked on top of the heap. Then I leave him alone, unless the water once in a while. Irrigation is not necessary, only accelerated the process.
Why not go back, the crowd, you can not expect that all the material to rot completely. The material in the center break of moreMaterial at the edges, but most of it does not break very well. The next step is working for me, because I have a small nursery, I think a lot of dirt on hand at all times. But you can really do the same thing only shreds through the purchase of two or three yards of mulch, to begin, and the battery is near the compost bin. If so, you must always treat a supply of good compost.
Shredded bark, break down the left in a pile at one point and become great compost. The soil I use is about 80% rotted bark. I compost with the purchase of well-textured and dark hardwood bark mulch, and put it in a pile and let it rot. The secret is to keep the pile low and flat, so do not throw away the rainwater. You want the mulch to stay as wet as possible, which means that it broke pretty quickly.
So I think a lot of rotted bark mulch near my compost bin. If both containers are completely full, I empty the trash, theoldest material is stacked on my rotted bark mulch. I make sure the pile of rotted mulch is wide and
flat top, so when I brought the material from the compost bin on top of the pile, the compost material is only 50-10 cm thick.
My mulch pile to 12 'wide, but may be only 24-30 inches tall. Once I have all the compost on top of the stack, then I go around the edge of the pile with a shovel and take part of the material from the edges of the stack and pullrots on top of the compost pile for at least 6 "of the cortex. It is to break down the compost material cause for the rest of the road.
Once this system is started, you do not use all the material stack. Maintain at least 2-3 cubic meters by the hand, so you have something good to your compost mix. If you have a lot of compost material like I do, then you should buy more material and add your stack in late summer or autumn, when you're done withfor the season.
To answer this, many supply companies for the sale of compost already pretty well broken. This is what my stock from buy to add. But I make sure I have at least 3 meters from the old material on hand to try, I would add another 3 yards of fresh material. Then in spring I'll empty one of the composter and add the mixture to the top of the pile.
The pile of usable compost will be layers of material to compost, some more than others.A bit 'like a sandwich. So what I do is chip off a section of the pile from the edge, to distribute on the floor, so that only about 8 inches deep, then on with my small rototiller's Run. This compound together perfectly, and I dig the flowers on the shore land.
After a pile of compost near your compost is great because if you have a lot of leaves or grass, you can throw some 'compost in the bin, to support the need for stratifiedto work well for composting.
Of course this process is a bit 'of work, but it is sure beautiful, a place to dispose of organic waste any time I have. Then down the road if I'm beautiful compost to your soil, add grateful to have done the right thing before, and I know I have wasted nothing.
